The name Chronomat traces its roots back to the 1940s, when Breitling first christened some of its watches with this name, which at the time meant the synthesis of the words “chronograph for mathematics”, referring to the calculations needed during flight.
Today, after another 40 years, the Breitling Chronomat B01 42 replica is born. It has been renewed in form and content, adapting to the times while retaining and enhancing many elements of the modern-retro style that has made it an icon among sports replica watches. First and foremost, the distinctive rotating bezel characterised by “knights”, which protect the crystal while facilitating its grip and rotation.
Those at 3 and 9 o’clock, just as on the original model, can be unscrewed and inverted, allowing the wearer to use the Breitling replica watch for countdown functions as well. Aesthetically, the mix of satin and polished is reversed from the previous collection, as the bezel now has a polished finish while the lugs have a satin finish.
Continuing to analyse the best quality Breitling replica case, one notices that the crown has retained its traditional ‘onion’ shape, although the end is now more flattened. The logo is engraved on the top; the chrono buttons have a new ogive shape, marking a clean break with the previous cylindrical screw-down buttons. The lugs are straight and perfectly accommodate the integrated Rouleaux bracelet in steel with a satin-brushed finish like the case, with a distinctive design whose links accommodate polished inserts that echo the finish of the bezel, creating a pleasant play of reflections.
Not having worn it yet, we cannot assess its wearability, although at first glance the bracelet conveys an idea of great flexibility and comfort, as Georges Kern himself pointed out during today’s webcast. We will talk more about this as soon as we have a chance to wear the Breitling fake watch. The case measures 42mm in diameter and is 15.1mm thick with a brushed finish, and has a sapphire crystal case back through which one can see the movement, the well-known Breitling manufacture calibre 01, launched more than ten years ago on the Chronomat 01 and best in class in its segment.
It is an automatic movement, equipped with a bidirectional ball-bearing oscillating weight, 4Hz frequency and 70-hour power reserve. The chronograph is equipped, needless to say, with a column wheel and vertically engaged clutch. The Chronomat B01 42 are all COSC-certified chronometers and are water-resistant to 20 bar (200 metres). If, until now, the Cheap fake Chronomat did not entirely meet my tastes, I must admit that I find the new collection very successful and with just the right amount of renewal that adapts its style without betraying its pedigree, making it recognisable at first glance among premium sports chronographs.
